Styrian talent Lukas Glatz, a 20-year-old outside hitter, is making a significant leap in his international volleyball career. He is transitioning from TSV Raiffeisen HARTBERG to the prestigious Italian club Rana VERONA, joining the SuperLega – widely regarded as the pinnacle of global volleyball.
“Playing in this championship has always been a dream of mine,” Glatz expressed. “The ‘Volleyball Senza Confini’ project gave me early exposure to the rigorous demands of international volleyball. Now, I’m eager to prove my readiness, and Verona represents an immense opportunity.”
Since 2023, TSV Raiffeisen HARTBERG and Rana VERONA have fostered a robust collaboration through the “Volleyball Senza Confini” cross-border initiative. This partnership has allowed the Italian top club to gain deep insight into Hartberg`s excellent talent pool. The project facilitates early identification and joint development of promising young players like Lukas Glatz. Close cooperation among coaches ensures their involvement throughout the process, including trial trainings. Furthermore, performance data and video material are bilaterally exchanged, hinting at a potential reverse flow where international players of interest to Rana VERONA could be developed in Hartberg. Verona`s partners are particularly impressed by Glatz’s high technical and athletic prowess, skills meticulously cultivated during his time in Hartberg.
Gottfried Rath-Zobernig, the visionary behind “Volleyball Senza Confini,” noted, “Lukas Glatz`s move is the realization of an idea: that Austrian players can ascend to the absolute world class through targeted support and international partnerships. I am thrilled to pave innovative pathways for Austria’s clubs and talents through this project.”
The SuperLega, comprising 12 teams, is to volleyball what the NBA is to basketball or the NHL to ice hockey. It attracts elite athletes globally, offering highly lucrative contracts and extensive worldwide broadcasts. From Olympic to World Champions, all major stars compete here. For instance, US setter Micah Christenson, a three-time medalist at World Championships and Olympic Games, will become Lukas Glatz’s teammate this fall.

¡La Estrella Emergente del Voleibol Austriaco se Une a la Liga Élite Italiana!
El talentoso jugador estirio Lukas Glatz, un atacante externo de 20 años, está dando un salto significativo en su carrera internacional de voleibol.
